The Sandpiper Nursery School inherits its name from the small birds that search for food along the surf on Cape Cod. Their motions of following the waves on the beach, running to the water when it recedes and away when it returns, is reminiscent of the behavior of small children chasing waves. What looks like play to adults is the search for food for the birds, and the thirst for knowledge for the children.
