Utilizing a program inspired by the preprimary schools of Reggio Emilia Italy, the Sandpiper Nursery School affords young children the opportunity to develop academic and social skills that will serve as a valuable foundation for the rest of their lives.
Comprised of experienced and qualified staff members, we pride ourselves on creating an encouraging and supportive environment for children of ages two years nine months to six years old, allowing them to develop an understanding of academics and social interaction via a program tailored to each child's individual interests.
We understand that everyone's situation, both time wise and financially is a little different. To help simplify this problem, we offer a myriad of schedules, programs, and tuition rates for parents to chose which works best for them. Children may come any two, three, four or five days of the five business days of the week, and our school schedule, with the exception of the summer program, coincides with the public school schedule. Most children come at least for the Nursery School part of the day between 9:00 and 12:00, but a before school hour at 8:00 is available, as well as a lunch hour at 12:00, and an afternoon daycare program from 1:00 to 5:00. Parents needing daycare during school vacations may send their children to nearby Friendship Garden Nursery School when The Sandpiper Nursery School is closed. Tuition is based on a rate of $6.00 per hour, and we accept state vouchers and buisness reimbursement contracts.
No two children are exactly the same and no two children learn exactly the same way. We tailor our curriculum, which is based on the Massachusetts Curriculum Guidelines for Preschool, to allow our students to explore every area freely. Our curriculum fosters creativity, discovery, and innovation while simultaneously challenging the student in every area of academics. In many cases, a student’s greatest aptitudes surface at this stage of development, offering ample time to nurture your child’s talents and give early support for any difficulties.
In April 1998, we were among the first four Falmouth preschools to receive an accreditation from the National Academy of Early Education Programs. This honor was bestowed again in the winter of 2002 and a third time in 2008. In the spring of 2007, we became the only private preschool on the Cape to receive a Universal Preschool Pilot Program Grant from the state. Our consistent striving toward excellence shows that the Sandpiper offers a superior program run by dedicated professionals.
